Earlier this year, one of our own, Laura Charquesi, had the incredible opportunity to join World Vision on a life changing trip to Uganda, alongside sponsors who have been supporting children in local communities for years.

During the visit, Laura and the group traveled to villages where World Vision’s programs are actively transforming lives. They met children and families whose futures have been shaped through sponsorship. Children who now have access to education, clean water, and healthcare. The team visited schools, joined classroom activities, and spent time learning how these initiatives create real, long-term change.

Coming back from Uganda with World Vision has been one of the most life-changing experiences of my life. I felt both the shock of seeing the challenges so many children face and the joy of witnessing the power of hope in action. I will never forget the visits with the sponsors and the children — seeing their smiles, their excitement, and the way their lives are transformed through sponsorship. In those moments, I truly realized that every single donor doesn’t just make a difference — they save a life. The culture, the music, the energy, and the warmth of the people left me deeply touched. I carry with me the certainty that together, we can change the world — one child at a time. - Laura Charquesi

World Vision’s child sponsorship model is built on partnership, connecting individuals with children in vulnerable communities to help them break the cycle of poverty. A single sponsor’s support can mean the difference between a child going to school or having to work, between illness and good health, between uncertainty and opportunity.

For Laura, who speaks with people daily about the power of sponsorship, this trip brought new depth and authenticity to her work. Experiencing firsthand how monthly donations become tangible progress renewed her motivation to keep inspiring others to get involved.
